Animal Management Academy
We hold an Animal Management Saturday Academy for 13-16 year olds at Nescot in Ewell, near Epsom. Our academies are fun and instructive Saturday courses that last four weeks. They start at 10am and finish at 1pm on consecutive Saturdays.
Have you ever wondered the best way to handle a python or how tricky it is to catch a sheep or goat? Do you contemplate what fruit the chickens like best for their tea or if ferrets prefer scrambled or boiled eggs at breakfast time? Would you like to plan and prepare enrichment activities for our coati or our families of rabbits and guinea-pigs?
This four-week course aims to provide a relaxed and informative introduction to the key skills needed to care for furry, feathered, fleecy and scaly animals. During the course you will work in small teams, building up your skills and confidence, to prepare for an interactive ‘Animal Presentation’ for your invited guests in your final week.
No previous knowledge of caring for animals is necessary – you bring the enthusiasm and we’ll provide the experience!
Please email [email protected] before booking if you have any allergies that could affect you whilst on the course e.g. allergies to animal fur, hay and straw or nut-containing animal feeds. Students will also need warm and waterproof clothes and stout shoes or wellingtons as there will be outdoor activities.
The cost for all four weeks is £95.00.
Students are expected to arrive 15 minutes before the start time and to be picked up promptly at the end time. Students will need to provide proof of age on arrival.
If you have an EHCP or any other special requirements please contact Lynn Simmons [email protected] before booking.
Please note that we are not able to issue refunds once a place on a Saturday Academy is booked. We are happy, however, to allow a student name change on the booking should a friend/relative wish to take the place instead. The booking name change must be made at least 3 working days ahead of the first class taking place.
